A snap inspection of a Bristol<\/a> secondary school criticised for postponing a visit by an MP who is a member of a group that advocates for Israel has found \u201cno evidence of partisan political views\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ofsted inspectors arrived at Bristol Brunel academy<\/a> earlier this month after reports that its leaders had called off a visit<\/a> by Damien Egan, the Labour MP for Bristol North East, after opposition from a pro-Palestine group and members of staff belonging to the National Education Union (NEU).<\/p>\n

Keir Starmer previously told MPs: \u201cWe will be holding to account those who prevented this visit to this school.\u201d<\/p>\n

Egan, who is Jewish and a member of Labour<\/a> Friends of Israel, was to speak to pupils about democracy and the role of MPs last September, but the school postponed the event after it learned of plans for a protest.<\/p>\n

Pro-Palestine activists and NEU members said they opposed the visit because of Israel\u2019s military operations in Gaza.<\/p>\n

Inspectors spent two days assessing the school, examining policy, culture and curriculum, and hearing the views of 135 staff and 143 parents \u2013 all of whom were \u201coverwhelmingly positive\u201d about Bristol Brunel.<\/p>\n

Their report, which was published on Wednesday, said: \u201cInspectors found no evidence of partisan political views.\u201d<\/p>\n

It said the inspection had been held to examine whether the school\u2019s day-to-day running was in line with statutory duties on political impartiality, curriculum breadth and pupils\u2019 personal development.<\/p>\n

\u201cDifferences are celebrated through assemblies, and special \u2018pop ups\u2019, which cover different geographical locations, cultures and religious beliefs. This includes sharing perspectives about \u2018show racism the red card\u2019, Pride month, migration and National Holocaust Memorial Day,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo discrimination is tolerated; this was evidenced in discussions with pupils and staff and in their responses to Ofsted\u2019s confidential surveys.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inspectors said leaders and trustees demonstrated a profound commitment to providing an inclusive learning environment that promotes \u201ctolerance and respect for the diversity of modern Britain\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeaders at this school ensure political impartiality in the curriculum and teaching,\u201d the report said. \u201cIf leaders\u2019 high expectations are not met by staff or pupils, quick action is taken.\u201d<\/p>\n

It said no member of staff the inspectors spoke to was aware of a proposed staff-led protest against Egan\u2019s visit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
