If your Gmail account didn\u2019t seem to be working properly Saturday, you were not alone. But Google says the issue has been be resolved.<\/p>\n
The official status dashboard<\/a> for Google Workspace suggests that problems began at around 5am Pacific on Saturday morning, with users experiencing both \u201cmisclassification of emails in their inbox and additional spam warnings.\u201d<\/p>\n For me, that meant my Primary inbox was filled with messages that would normally appear in the Promotions, Social, or Updates inboxes, and that spam warnings were appearing in emails from known senders. Other users complained on social media that \u201call the spam is going directly to my inbox\u201d<\/a> and that Gmail\u2019s filters seem \u201csuddenly completely busted.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n The Google dashboard was updated with messages throughout the day on Saturday saying that the company was still working to resolve the issue. Later on Saturday evening, Google posted that the issue had been \u201cfully resolved for all users.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSome Gmail users experienced a misclassification of emails in their inbox, delays in receiving email,\u201d the company said in a dashboard update. \u201cAdditionally, misclassified spam warnings from the incident may persist for existing messages received before the issue resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n The company also said that it will \u201cpublish an analysis of this incident once we have completed our internal investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n This post was first published on January 24, 2026.
