Firefighter dies in NSW during bushfires<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n
New South Wales premier Chris Minns<\/strong> has said a member of the national parks firefighting team has died on firegrounds in the state.<\/p>\n Minns said a man was likely killed by a tree, \u201cobviously a terrible reminder of how difficult and dangerous this work is and how the people who put their lives on the line to protect lives and property do an incredible job for us in this state\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a deeply distressing turn of events, and a sad day for New South Wales this morning,\u201d Minns told ABC News Breakfast.<\/p>\n There are about 700 firefighters across NSW working today to contain the blazes, including nine that remain uncontained.<\/p>\n Minns said it was \u201cquite a foreboding beginning to the beginning of the bushfire season\u201d.<\/p>\n![\"A](\"https:\/\/i.guim.co.uk\/img\/media\/b5b02914242b96f01998e1a1f6ad96c25c7d9dda\/0_0_4500_2994\/master\/4500.jpg?width=700&dpr=2&s=none&crop=none\")
