{"id":13049,"date":"2026-01-16T23:10:59","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T23:10:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=13049"},"modified":"2026-01-16T23:10:59","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T23:10:59","slug":"chatgpt-tests-ads-as-a-new-era-of-ai-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=13049","title":{"rendered":"ChatGPT tests ads as a new era of AI begins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/img-assets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GettyImages-2226497243-1-e1767805198549.jpg?w=2048\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Two days after Google insisted there are no current plans for ads in its Gemini AI app, OpenAI announced Friday that it is starting to test ads in ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>OpenAI CEO of applications Fidji Simo said in a blog post that ads will begin appearing at the bottom of the chatbot\u2019s answers for free users and for Go subscribers (who pay $8 a month) in the U.S. in the coming weeks, opening an important new source of revenue for the high-flying startup which has been valued by investors at $500 billion.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a moment many in tech have long viewed as inevitable: Running frontier AI models is brutally expensive, burning through staggering amounts of computing power, electricity, and GPUs. Advertising\u2019s revenue stream is hard to resist.
