{"id":12587,"date":"2026-01-15T12:59:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T12:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=12587"},"modified":"2026-01-15T12:59:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T12:59:10","slug":"new-rules-make-it-easier-to-call-up-reservists-for-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=12587","title":{"rendered":"New rules make it easier to call up reservists for war"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The government is to announce new powers making it easier to mobilise tens of thousands of former armed forces personnel to prepare for war.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">New rules will mean reservists remain on call for an extra decade, and lower the threshold for them being called into service.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The changes will form part of legislation for the armed forces being published in parliament later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">While some of its provisions are technical measures the government has to renew at regular intervals, other parts of the legislation are seen by ministers as a crucial part of the conversation about Britain&#8217;s readiness for conflict.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-component=\"text-block\">\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The measures affect the segments of the armed forces reserve who are former service personnel rather than volunteers &#8211; known as the strategic reserve.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Currently, the age limit for the strategic reserve is 55.
