{"id":11955,"date":"2026-01-13T14:51:19","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T14:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=11955"},"modified":"2026-01-13T14:51:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T14:51:19","slug":"enhanced-games-sprinter-reece-prescod-not-taking-drugs-for-las-vegas-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=11955","title":{"rendered":"Enhanced Games sprinter Reece Prescod &#8216;not taking drugs&#8217; for Las Vegas event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Former Great Britain sprinter Reece Prescod says he will not take performance-enhancing drugs despite signing up for the controversial Enhanced Games.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The competition, scheduled to take place in Las Vegas in May, will allow athletes to take substances, under medical supervision, that are banned in mainstream sport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 29-year-old, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/athletics\/articles\/cx2pev0zxgwo\" class=\"ssrcss-k8mrr8-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">who retired last year,<\/a> is the fourth-fastest British man over 100m, with a personal best of 9.93 seconds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Speaking to BBC Radio 4&#8217;s World at One programme, Prescod replied &#8220;no&#8221; when questioned on whether he had taken any substances so far.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Asked &#8220;But will you?&#8221; he again replied: &#8220;No.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Obviously, medical-wise it&#8217;s always confidential, but I think for me right now the biggest priority is getting back into that sub-10 shape,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Enhanced Games has been criticised for endangering athletes&#8217; health and undermining fair play, with the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) describing it as a &#8220;dangerous and irresponsible project&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Only substances approved by the United States&#8217; Food and Drug Administration, (FDA) can be taken.
