Sons, will serve a two-year term leading the council of 16 representatives from member companies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The council plays\u00a0a central role\u00a0in shaping the strategic direction and policy priorities of the Scotch\u00a0whisky industry. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Her appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Scotch\u00a0whisky sector, as the industry navigates global trade pressures, tariff uncertainty, regulatory\u00a0change,\u00a0and the accelerating transition to a more sustainable operating model.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Mark Kent,  chief executive of the SWA, welcomed the appointment, saying: \u201cRita\u2019s\u00a0expertise\u00a0in commercial excellence and strategy will be crucial as we navigate a challenging period for the Scotch\u00a0whisky industry.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cScotch\u00a0whisky is being significantly\u00a0impacted\u00a0by multiple headwinds both here at home and in our global markets, but the industry is focused on overcoming these challenges and delivering long-term sustainable growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ms Greenwood has been a member of\u00a0the William Grant &amp;
