On a rainy Saturday in Philadelphia<\/a>, two separate protests, both with a few hundred people, marched from city hall to the federal detention center. They differed slightly in solutions as well as crowd makeup \u2013 white older adults dominated the morning\u2019s march organized by the groups behind the No Kings protests, while a more racially diverse crowd swathed in keffiyehs and N95 face masks led the afternoon\u2019s, planned by the local Democratic Socialists of America chapter. However, both groups shared a goal: for ICE to get out of American communities and to put an end to Donald Trump\u2019s warmongering in Venezuela.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom Venezuela to Minneapolis, all we\u2019re seeing is a regime that is scrambling, willing to kill its own citizens, willing to kill foreign citizens, to maintain its power,\u201d said Deborah Rose Hinchey, co-chair of the city\u2019s Democratic Socialists of America chapter.<\/p>\n Philadelphia\u2019s protests were just two of more than a thousand planned<\/a> for this weekend in the wake of three ICE-related shootings, one fatal, in the week since the Trump administration<\/a>\u2019s seizure of Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, Venezuela\u2019s president. Many of the events, such as the Saturday morning protest in Philadelphia, were planned as part of the ICE Out for Good weekend of action<\/a> called by national organizations, including Indivisible and the American Civil Liberties Union, following the ICE killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday. The Democratic Socialists of America had also planned a national day of action to stop Trump\u2019s \u201cillegal war\u201d in Venezuela.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re murdering legal observers. They\u2019re being blatant about the reality that they\u2019re invading countries for oil. This is not a fringe radical thing. This is murder and illegal war crimes,\u201d said Rick Krajewski, the Pennsylvania<\/a> representative, who represents parts of west Philadelphia, after addressing the crowd at the afternoon\u2019s protest.<\/p>\n With planned actions in all 50 states, events will continue into Sunday. Large crowds marched on Saturday in Boston<\/a>, San Francisco<\/a> and Portland, Oregon<\/a>. In snow-covered Minneapolis<\/a>, crowds reached into the thousands<\/a>, chanting: \u201cFuck ICE, ICE out!\u201d<\/a> and Renee Nicole Good\u2019s name<\/a>. That morning, the US representatives Ilhan Omar, Kelly Morrison and Angie Craig had attempted to enter a Minneapolis ICE facility<\/a>, later accusing the agency of unlawfully denying them entry.<\/p>\n
