Georgie Rennie: fed up with lack of female-oriented products<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Pounce Padel, a female-founded and designed racket brand established in Edinburgh, aims to tackle a lack of women-focused products in a sport where women make up 40% of players.<\/p>\n

It is challenging what is called the \u201cpink and sidelined\u201d approach to women\u2019s sports gear with rackets that deliver premium performance and inspires more women to play.<\/p>\n

As padel is now regarded as the fastest growing sport in the UK, Pounce Padel enters the market with rackets engineered with women\u2019s needs and aesthetics in mind.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The carbon-framed rackets, made in China, are said to provide stability and manoeuvrability without sacrificing on strength.<\/p>\n

Founded by Georgie Rennie, Pounce Padel was born out of personal experience and a desire to create something she felt was missing from the market. <\/p>\n

She was raised in Guildford, graduated in Edinburgh, and returned to live in the city in 2016 after a brief stint working in London.<\/p>\n

With experience in advertising technology, and a desire to improve her padel skills, she decided to develop her own brand amid frustration over the products on offer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so fed up with seeing blokey, male-focused designs \u2013 nothing that appealed to me \u2013 so I created a brand myself,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t even call myself a \u2018sporty\u2019 girl, and the 10-year-old me would never believe I\u2019d end up starting a sports brand. In fact, she\u2019d find it hilarious. But that\u2019s exactly the point. This is the \u2018why\u2019 behind the brand: our mission is to empower and inspire women to get into, or back into, sport \u2013 and padel is the perfect place to start.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen make up 35-40% of all players, with numbers rocketing to almost half a million in the UK. One quick Google search of the gear and you certainly won\u2019t see that representation.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, the brand is style-led, but its foundation is uncompromising quality and an unwavering, women-focused lens. The rackets are lighter and have a more comfortable strap. We deserve equipment that performs as well as it looks.\u201d<\/p>\n
